Peaceniks for Peace
I haven’t mentioned it before, but I’m going to be on a bus (one of three carrying Smith students) at six in the morning this Saturday on my way to New York.
For folks who didn’t know, United for Peace and Justice is sponsoring what is becoming an ever-more-massive protest in New York City this Saturday. We’re speaking out against the prospect of war with Iraq, the trade-off of blood for oil, and the need for peaceful resolutions instead of more murdering.
The permit to march was denied but they allowed for a rally in Central Park. There’s an interesting article here about the denial of the march permit, and information about feeder marches here. The group from Western Mass should be getting in at Grand Central at about that time.
I have Civil Disobedience training tomorrow night, sign-making Friday night, and I need to gather the stuff I’ll need for Saturday in the interim.
Oh, and Valentine’s day and three hours of work that need covering on Saturday. In the next week it’s looking like Sunday is going to be my only day to actually rest.
Vive la resistance, though. Vive la resistance!

The criticisms of my students would serve as a good warning to visitors of Seeworthy: she talks too fast, she's too hard on us, she assigns too much work, and you have to be a dyke to get a good grade.
In other words, I'm a big, fat, queer, feminist meanie, and I am totally out to get you. Graaagh!
