Who you callin’ a princess?

The night before we left Connecticut, we didn’t get to sleep until late. I made sure to pack everything in the Gamecube box; Colleen told me to pack it into the suitcase, but I thought I should leave it out, just in case. “Just in case” turned out to be “just in case I want to forget it in Connecticut,” which it turns out I did, and four months later it’s still there.

Normally, this wouldn’t phase me, but fate has ended up withdrawing our planned trip back to Connecticut this winter, which means I’ll have a whole extra week with nothing to do but mope around the house with Colleen, each of us wallowing in the wholly un-snowy holiday. If we’d had our Gamecube, at least we could enjoy “Twilight Princess,” which our grubby little animal hands have been anticipating since we first heard about it months ago. Originally it was supposed to come out before the Wii (which we will never, ever be able to afford), but Nintendo got wise to the fact that all of their rabid Zelda fans would shell out $300 just to be able to fish with a zany new controller. Not us, though. We refuse to duck and dive like all the goofs we see on the “Wii would like to play commercials.” Nope, we’re sticking it out and we’re going to savor every tethered-to-the-system minute of Twilight Princess when it gets here next week.

Whoops, got a little carried away; we’re still waiting on Colleen’s mom to send us the Gamecube, something which as time passes is looking increasingly unlikely. I can picture it now; Colleen and I sitting in front of the open game case, staring at the disk, fingers twitching fruitlessly in anticipation. Hm. Maybe we could sell it to someone in Connecticut, and use the proceeds to just buy a new system. On the other hand, that’d mean losing all of our game progress. On the other hand, I’m pretty sure I’m getting carpal tunnel from typing so many papers, and the upcoming twitch could just put me in the hospital.
