2007: Resolutions are for losers
Okay, not really, but I like what Dreama did over at Random Again, so I’m copying. I’ve never been really big on the whole resolutions thing, but I think it’s nice to think about things that may be coming ahead. So, in her words, “in 2007, I will do the following things. As always, these are not resolutions, they are just things I will do.”
- Present at the PCA/ACA 2007 National Conference.
- Read at least fifteen non-school books (hey, that’s progress!)
- Become a GTA and teach intro courses on my own.
- Revise one paper substantially and start submitting it for publication.
- Regularly do academic work far enough in advance that I’m not stressed about it the week or two before it’s due.
- Get a damn haircut.
- Pester Deboleena for more awesome classic movie recommendations, like Metropolis, and watch them.
- Probably watch more gorgeous, well-done but ultimately depressing lesbian flicks, like The Journey and Round Trip.
- On the other hand, probably also watch my fair share of really terrible but cheerful lesbian films like Maggie and Annie.
- Participate in making the 2007 Blogathon even bigger, better and hopefully much smoother than ever before.
- Sell Albert, the new Toshiba.
- Buy a new laptop, undoubtedly a Dell.
- Write more, both academically and creatively.
- Visit my family, with Big C, in Connecticut.
- Play host to friends from all over the country, from Phoenix to Virginia
- Most excitingly, perhaps… go to Las Vegas for the first time with a bunch of other friends to geek out and see the new Harry Potter.

The criticisms of my students would serve as a good warning to visitors of Seeworthy: she talks too fast, she's too hard on us, she assigns too much work, and you have to be a dyke to get a good grade.
In other words, I'm a big, fat, queer, feminist meanie, and I am totally out to get you. Graaagh!
Sweet Sixteen!!
I like this approaches. Takes the pressure and the damn guilt out of the new year! Have fun doing them all in 2007.
And by approaches I clearly meant approach. Although I’m sure you have many lovely plural ones.
Yay sixteen! Sixteen ROCKS! And Kris, thanks, but the idea came from Dreama - kudos should def. go to her. I like it better than resolutions because resolutions feel so, uh, pressured and hopeless, whereas plans can highlight good things to come, no-pressure-style.
