Glamazons on America’s Got Talent
Confession 1: I sometimes watch America’s Got Talent, if Deal or No Deal is on a commercial break. Actually, that should be two confessions.
Confession 3: I was aware of the existence of the Glamazons, a fat burlesque troupe out of New York, but I’d never seen them perform and had no idea how awesome they were. Tonight, they performed on the show (America’s Got Talent, not Deal or No Deal) and they were fierce and fantastic.
For folks who missed it, they’ve got most of the video up on the site, though you’ll miss the judges comments. Surprisingly, all three judges adored them - I half expected to get your Simon Cowell-esque fatphobia, but for the most part the comments were incredibly positive (if a little saccharine at times). Holy smokes, I hadn’t heard of that troupe. They were great! Jerry Springer hosts and there wasn’t fataphobia? Amazing. I hate to say it, but Candy Apple reminds me of Baby Spice.
I love confessions of guilty pop culture pleasures…I recently got hooked on a certain show on the CW that is particularly embarassing.
