Despite what logic may tell you, this hat is an apple.
C’s mom is putting on a baby shower for her sister (and my sister-in-law) this September. Naturally, C decided that the most logical gifting route wouldn’t be to just, you know, buy something off the registry. No, we are Smithies, so when a special occasion comes up we do what many Smithies have done before us: we knit. Or try to, anyway.
That’s my attempt to knit the Apple a Day hat, from Knitting Patterns. Unfortunately, it ended up looking a bit more like a tomato with a green claw on the top.
Fortunately, the mother’s a little young to know about killer tomatos, so at least she won’t be afraid of the hat. I hope.

The criticisms of my students would serve as a good warning to visitors of Seeworthy: she talks too fast, she's too hard on us, she assigns too much work, and you have to be a dyke to get a good grade.
In other words, I'm a big, fat, queer, feminist meanie, and I am totally out to get you. Graaagh!
Yay, I love hats that make babies’ heads look like other things!
I went to a baby shower once for a Smithie, which I and one other Smithie attended. We both brought blankets as gifts. I knit mine, she quilted hers.
