Bonus Level: FTW Alison Bechdel!

Yesterday I went to my first-ever Comic Con. I was only there for two hours, since I had left my copy of Fun Home in the office on campus, so I had to trolley all the way out there, then down to the convention center.
But whoa, was the whole trip (and ensuing sunburn) totally worth it! Alison Bechdel was fantastic. I was pretty bummed when I found out that her autograph session later was one that had required raffle tickets (that had gone earlier in the day), but before she left I piped up that I was teaching the book in my class next semester, and would she sign it, and she totally did!
The picture above is from the end of her talk, when she asked to take a picture of the audience. Yours truly is in the front to the left, and my friend Mary is on the right.
Colleen says I was a dork for taking notes, but I say my next paper on the role of queer theory and gender in comics will be immeasurably better for it. So there. Pft.
For those who want a way to occupy themselves during the Blogathon, I highly recommend her blog.

The criticisms of my students would serve as a good warning to visitors of Seeworthy: she talks too fast, she's too hard on us, she assigns too much work, and you have to be a dyke to get a good grade.
In other words, I'm a big, fat, queer, feminist meanie, and I am totally out to get you. Graaagh!
