Resurrecting the Big Fat Carnival
A couple days ago I got in touch with Ampersand to find out if there was any chance of the sixth (or seventh?) Big Fat Carnival taking place. For those who aren’t familiar with the carnivals, here’s how Ampersand describes them:
The Big Fat Carnival is a carnival for collecting some of the best blog posts regarding fat pride; fat acceptance; critiques of anti-fat bigotry, attitudes and research; celebration of images of fat people; practical difficulties of being fat; fat love (queer and otherwise); feminist views of fat and fat acceptance; the health at every size movement (HAES); and whatever else each edition’s editor feels fits into the theme.
(But please note, The Big Fat Carnival is not a place to advocate weight-loss diets, weight loss surgery (WLS), or feederism.)
Of course, I heard back - since Ampersand isn’t blogging much anymore, he was fine with someone else running with it. I’ve poked around the archives there and it looks like the last edition was the fifth, back in October of 2006. There’ve been plenty of fantastic fat blogs flourishing since then, so it seems like it’d be a good time for another edition of the Big Fat Carnival.
The sixth edition of the Big Fat Carnival will be hosted here at Seeworthy on Wednesday, September 19th. You can submit your favorite fat posts (from other blogs, or your own) via this web form or via the contact form on this site. The deadline for submission is Sunday, September 16th.
In the past, Big Fat Carnivals have been both general, and themed. To check out Big Fat Carnivals of the past, check out the official post on Alas, a blog.
I’d like for these to become regular events again; if you’re interested in hosting a future edition of the Big Fat Carnival, go ahead and hit up the contact form here on the site and let me know.

The criticisms of my students would serve as a good warning to visitors of Seeworthy: she talks too fast, she's too hard on us, she assigns too much work, and you have to be a dyke to get a good grade.
In other words, I'm a big, fat, queer, feminist meanie, and I am totally out to get you. Graaagh!
Good for you, Sheana. I love the name of your Blog. Barry emailed me to see if I wanted to host the Big Fat Carnival on my blog soon. It’s
a distinct possibility. I’m busy getting my website live and that’s uphill, but I’m considering the hosting.
Chubsey Ubsey (http://wiseweightwoman.typepad.com/chubsey_ubsey/)is my blog. Hope to see you there sometime. I am a novice at blogs and don’t know how to show the link live here, sorry. I’m about self-love and self-acceptance for large women. I spent 65 years of being poked and prodded at either physically, verbally, or emotionally and I’ve come thru stronger and in love with me. I help others get there too.
Thanks for hosting the Big Fat Carnival. I’ll be there!

This website has encouraged me to continue being fat but with pride. Thank you so much for all of this information on dealing with fat.
