Radio celebrity!
Well, very nearly anyway.
A few weeks ago Colleen and I were heading driving around doing errands one weekend morning, listening to A Way With Words, one of our favorite NPR shows. I had recently gotten back my thesis proposal from my adviser with a few grammatical corrections. Being naturally stubborn, I googled one of the corrections and found - not entirely surprisingly - that the answer was somewhat ambiguous. I figured if anyone would be able to give me a definitive “you’re right!” it would be the folks on the show, so I emailed them my question.
Much to my surprise, I got an email back tonight telling me the answer! What’s even cooler is that they’ll be adding my question to the pool of listener questions for possible use on the show. I half expected that my question was too silly to merit a response, so I was tickled when I actually got an answer. Woo!
And because this post wasn’t nerdy enough, here’s a cow-shaped block of cheese I got at a Wisconsin airport lately. The cheese itself, alas, was not white with black cow spots. But maybe that’s a good thing.

The criticisms of my students would serve as a good warning to visitors of Seeworthy: she talks too fast, she's too hard on us, she assigns too much work, and you have to be a dyke to get a good grade.
In other words, I'm a big, fat, queer, feminist meanie, and I am totally out to get you. Graaagh!
Yay cheese! I’m excited for your fun cheese purchase!
I sure wish you would’ve stopped by when you were in Wisconsin. Next time, give me a call! But I’m glad you got your cheesy cheese. Enjoy your new celebrity status!
