Apoca-cryptic
It’s been a busy week, so I haven’t been online much. For a day or so after it happened, we were seeing reports on the news of the global uprisings, but it hadn’t seemed to spread to our suburb of San Diego. C and I thought, optimistically, it might pass.
Not so, it seems. We started […]
The Original 101, or Why I’m a Blogathon Junkie
Once, long ado, in the days of old, I participated in a smallish event called the Blogathon. As I recall, there were somewhere around 101 bloggers who participated in the event, way back in July of 2001, and together we raised over $20,000. I remember being amazed at what so few were able to accomplish, […]
The triumphant return of Blogathon (and…me?)
It seems like this happens every year… semi-regular posting, followed by a lull… and then frantic gearing up for Blogathon.
The event this year will be on July 28th this year; for the first time in four years, though, I’ll be starting at six a.m. Also different from the past four years - the past six […]
Anniversaries
Today is the twenty-third anniversary of my birth. Instead of celebrating in any substantial way, I’m spending the day in the Grad Student’s office, working on two papers that are due tomorrow, a proposal to teach my own course next year, and watching this video as much as I possibly can.
Cheers.
Massachusetts H. 1844
It’s been interesting to watch, as the news about H. 1844 has slowly eked around fat communities, how both the main NAAFA site and the ISAA sites haven’t mentioned anything about the bill. Sure, I did receive an email from Jeanne Toombs letting me know to pass the word around (which I’ve done, as best […]
Dreaming of the Fat Hub
The recent revamping over at Big Fat Blog has had me thinking about fat (cyber) communities, or the lack thereof.
I remember when I came out back in 2000 and found TechnoDyke, and I thought it was the lesbian community portal to beat all portals; it had regularly posted articles, an active forum, and content from […]
La Jolla Shores
C’s mother is visiting us right now, and since she’d never been to the Pacific we decided to meet after classes and work at La Jolla Shores to watch the sunset. There was some confusion - apparently there’s both a La Jolla Shores and a La Jolla Cove, and they are not really within “walking […]

FYI: No backdoor in heaven?
Via Steven. Classic!

The criticisms of my students would serve as a good warning to visitors of Seeworthy: she talks too fast, she's too hard on us, she assigns too much work, and you have to be a dyke to get a good grade.
In other words, I'm a big, fat, queer, feminist meanie, and I am totally out to get you. Graaagh!
